Fallen West Des Moines officer honored for selfless service
West Des Moines Police Chief Shaun LaDue eulogized Shawn Miller at St Francis of Assisi Church detailing his 26 years of service and family first ethic. Miller, 47, died Aug 3 in a motorcycle crash on Highway 169 near I-80 and was to be promoted to sergeant posthumously on Aug 29.

Cedar Rapids men charged in pellet gun car damage
Two Cedar Rapids men, Richard Whitney 19 and Timothy Booker 20, allegedly shot at vehicles in Cedar Rapids Hi awatha and Palo with pellet guns. They damaged more than 1,000 but under 10,000 dollars and were arrested on second and fourth degree criminal mischief charges.

Suspect sought in Coralville bank robbery
Coralville police identified Anndrea L. Gathings, 20, of Iowa City, as a second degree robbery suspect in the U S Bank on 10th Avenue, after a note demanded cash. She remains at large with a possible silver or tan older-model car. A reward of up to $1,000 is offered by the Iowa City Area Crime Stoppers.

Pokemon Go dad accused of leaving son home alone
Michael J. Dunham 30 is charged with child endangerment after police say he left his 6-year-old son unsupervised at 116 Friendship St in Iowa City for about 90 minutes while he played Pokemon Go with another son. The boy woke, wandered outside, and a neighbor cared for him until officers arrived.

Traffic stop uncovers multiple drug charges in Iowa City
Iowa City police report Henry G. Johnson, 31, pulled over near 1800 Taylor Dr at 12 23 a m Saturday. He failed sobriety tests refused a breath test and was charged with second offense drunken driving and interference with official acts. Nine bags of marijuana were found on his body during booking adding drug violations and contraband in a correctional facility. A search warrant at 320 Second St Coralville yielded marijuana cash and packaging materials. Johnson awaits further proceedings at Johnson County Jail.
