Falling Cedar River levels force Duane Arnold to dredge

The Duane Arnold Energy Center will dredge a Cedar River section this summer to access water while avoiding water withdrawals from Pleasant Creek Reservoir. As Iowa's only nuclear plant on the Cedar, it draws about 6000 gallons per minute for cooling, with river levels near three feet and discharge at 21 percent of August norms.
