Washington Parade Attracts Big Crowd In Centennial Celebration
The Washington Centennial opened with about 21 000 people for a four and a half mile parade. Units included municipal bands, a concert band, high school groups, and pioneer displays. A 4-H parade, an audience of 2600 for Washington's Heritage, and Miss Washington titles were part of the festivities.

Savage Duck Hawk Film Shown At McGregor
W M Rosene showed motion pictures taken near Lansing last summer of the nest life of a duck hawk. The nest was found in Iowa two miles south of Lansing by George Kaufman deputy state game warden. Rosene photographed the mother bird in attack range and described the duckhawk as the swiftest and most ferocious bird taking prey in the air.
