Community funds raised for Honor Flight at Cedar Rapids pull
About 36 500 from team fees and sponsors plus donations pushed the Pulling for Honor event at Eastern Iowa Airport toward a 40 000 total. Seventeen teams competed to pull a 187 000 pound FedEx cargo jet 12 feet in 6.4 seconds claiming Linn Star Transfer won with 6.422 seconds. The Spotix and SPMB team placed second and Rockwell Collins third. The fundraiser aims to send a plane of veterans to Washington, D.C. next summer with youth rides offered by Young Eagles drawing over 100 flights.
