Shots fired outside Cedar Rapids home prompts police probe
Police investigated a shooting outside a southeast Cedar Rapids residence after a man fired five shots at another man about 100 feet away. Both men fled before officers arrived. Detectives searched a car at the scene and questioned witnesses while pursuing a suspect. one person was arrested on-site, the sister of a witness with an outstanding theft warrant.

Maynard Arling-ton Man Involved In Fayette County Crash
An Arlington man, Gary Rubner, 34, was critically injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday near Maynard Fayette County. He was taken to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein in critical condition. The other driver Patricia Taylor, 49, of rural Oelwein, was treated and released after the collision at 7:50 a.m. two miles south of Maynard on 80th Street and Neon Road.

Robberies in North Liberty Likely by Same Man
Investigators have no new leads in weekend robberies at a North Liberty mobile home and the Pizza Ranch. Both incidents involved a white male with a handgun, described as 5 foot 10 to 6 foot 2, 180 to 195 pounds, brown eyes, black hair. Antique-looking Capitol light fixtures turn out to be duplicates
Iowa Capitol lights sold to Decorah's Hotel Winneshiek were not antiques but off the shelf fixtures bought about six years ago. Capitol facilities manager Mark Willemssen said the pair, removed during a crown restoration, cost about $6,000 in the 1990s and sold for about $5,500, with no auction expected to fetch $100 each. The Hotel Winneshiek owner expressed no comment on the sale.
