Rulings Expand Iowa Liquor License Rules

DES MOINES AP Atty Gen Evan Hultman says qualified applicants may hold multiple commercial liquor licenses if licenses come from different cities. State law bars local bodies from issuing more than one license to the same person, but the State Liquor Control Commission may issue several to one individual. Open bottles in a moving car are not illegal. A married person under 21 cannot serve beer where beer sales exceed 50 percent of income. Minors cannot serve beer from hotel taprooms to guests in other rooms where taproom income is beer-driven.
