Excessive bacteria found in most Iowa lakes
Iowa state regulators face unclear causes as weekly tests show fecal bacteria above standards at 22 of 35 state park beaches. Four beaches were closed this summer with Darling and Backbone previously closed. last week Bobwhite beach remained closed.

Hayride crash at Minnesota reunion kills 1 and injures 22
A tractor pulling a hay wagon collided with a pickup on a gravel road near Olmsted and Wabasha counties. Violet Burdick, 83, of Winona, died. Twenty two people were injured including several Iowans. Among the injured were Jean Clark and Brian Clark of Waterloo, Toni Jo Johnson of Manston Wisconsin. The driver of the pickup Joseph Folkert, 20, was hospitalized in serious condition. The reunion was on Burdick’s farm.

Trial delayed in death tied to restraint
Mason City Iowa Lori Ann Meacham 35 faces a felony child endangerment charge over the February death of 11 year old Tanner Wilson at a center for disabled children. The trial was moved from Cerro Gordo District Court to November 27 to allow more time for witness statements and expert medical testimony.
