Target seeking C R site approval again Gazette staff report
Cedar Rapids council weighs a revised rezoning plan for a Super Target along Blairs Ferry Road NE after months of opposition. Landowners Gene Meyer Gerald Eganhouse and Bjornson Investment Corp seek I-1A to C-2 and O/S zoning to favor a 174000 square foot department and grocery store with added office park lots to ease neighbors. 300 sign petitions reflect traffic and neighborhood concerns despite assurances of a buffer and a transition from commercial to residential zoning. An identical Target is under construction near Westdale Mall.
