Bix Beiderbecke Jazz Festival Lights LeClaire Park

Davenport hosts the fifth annual festival honoring Davenport native Bix Beiderbecke with ten bands and nearly 20 000 spectators over July 30 to August 1. crowds picnicked, danced, and enjoyed a friendly, Woodstock like ambiance as Gene Mays Dixieland Rhythm Kings and Smokey Stover Memorial Jazz Band performed.

Davenport hosts fifth annual Bix Beiderbecke Jazz Fest

A Davenport jazz festival honors Bix Beiderbecke with 27 boats by the levee and multiple bands. The event, growing since 1970, drew national attention and a $40 000 budget for the fifth iteration featuring the Smokey Stover Memorial Jazz Band and others.

Still Village Might Be Moved In Brunei

Brunei plans to relocate about 30 000 residents from Kampong Ayer the largest water village in Southeast Asia to dry land.
