Marshalltown pair lead Large West to title in Iowa all star game
Marshalltown stars Jeff Clement and Mike Mogard powered Large Schools West to a 20 6 win over Small East in the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association All Star Series final. Mogard went 5 for 5 with three runs and three RBI. Clement had 2 for 5 with 4 RBI. Zach Daeges of Harlan earned MVP honors with 3 hits and 3 runs. Clement signed with Southern California. Mogard will play for Iowa.

Frantz Wins Iowa City Women’s Amateur By Seven Strokes
Jill Frantz, WIU sophomore and former Iowa City High graduate, captured the Iowa City Women’s Amateur with a two round total of 146 at Finkbine Golf Course. She shot 75 at Finkbine and 71 at Pleasant Valley to eclipse Mary Chase by 11 strokes while breaking the 36 hole record. Frantz credited added distance and improved putting as keys to the victory and noted she will balance golf and basketball as a team manager.
