IDOT revenue grim forecast as fuel tax set to shrink
IDOT analysts project a five year slide in fuel tax revenue and license fees, as more fuel efficient cars cut gas consumption. Iowa drivers travel more but burn less fuel, with fuel tax income declining from 248.8 million in 1987 to about 246.3 million by 1993, and four year licenses reducing annual income before rebound.
