Solar panels on Cedar Rapids church highlight climate aid
CB Solar installed large roof panels on Peoples Church in Cedar Rapids on a hot week, part of a 21 000 effort to cut emissions and save money. Church member Rich Patterson notes hotter days may rise with climate change while Matt Edwards of CB Solar says the system will take about nine years to pay back, with first year savings over 2400. The project follows energy upgrades and roof replacement after the Aug 10 derecho. Marion Patterson says the church’s solar effort aligns with Unitarian Universalist principles.
