Residents on Fifth Street SE heard a loud blast from a nearby IE substation as fuses blew causing a 56 minute outage for 375 customers. Flames and smoke rose from the pole area but no injuries were reported and nearby businesses faced power loss delaying operations.

Campbell trial set for Oct 5 on escape charge
Paul Campbell also known as Jabir Mu'min pleaded innocent to an absence from custody charge after escaping from the Project Hope halfway house in Iowa City. Trial is scheduled Oct 5 in Johnson County District Court. he remains jailed on $5,000 bail.
