Tank cars misplacement linked to Altoona collision

Two tank cars carrying 20 000 gallons each of denatured alcohol were placed second and third in the westbound Iowa Interstate train, not the rear as instructed. The crash near Altoona killed two crewmen and prompted a two day evacuation of about 2 000 residents while investigators study car orders and signals on the dark territory line.

Congress ready to block Chicago area railroad strike
