State Loses Lake Okoboji Land Claim
SPIRIT LAKE AP The Iowa conservation commission lost in Dickinson county district court its bid that Lake Okoboji shore up to a 30 inch water line belongs to the state. Judge Hand ruled for private owners Tory Norland and R A Furman who challenged the new survey line affecting West and East Okoboji shores. Norland, a developer, sought clear title to build 80 cottages but said the boundary left him only a third of the land and no lake frontage access. The dispute began in 1966 when Norland sought authority to build a lagoon on his proposed development.
