Toddville man breeds koi with hometown frugal flair
Greg Bickal of Toddville turned a childhood interest in guppies into a backyard koi operation. He built outdoor ponds after early failures with tropical fish, traded for koi with the Des Moines zoo, and now rents winter space in a heated house. His Toddville home draws customers from far away, selling koi from 6 to 16 inches at 10 to 100 dollars, plus related items and advice on backyard ponds.
