Paige Wieneke, born April 5 2000 in Cedar Rapids to Jeff and Allison Wieneke, faced transposition of the great arteries. After two procedures and brief ventilator setbacks she recovered and is now a healthy 15 month old. The family supports heart research such as the American Heart Walk.
Jordan Amelon born May 1 1998 weighed 7 pounds 6 ounces and faced a complex congenital heart defect after birth. She had two open heart surgeries by age six months and will need future procedures, but enjoys elephants tractors and her family with support from the American Heart Association and the University of Iowa.
