Linn jail called worst place to hold a juvenile
Linn County Supervisor Chairman Bill Martin condemned the county jail as the worst place on earth to detain a juvenile and backed two group homes for girls and young women proposed by the YWCA and Hillcrest Services. He urged a concrete proposal for a juvenile detention center while Cedar Rapids churches noted a lack of local evaluation facilities. Five juveniles were held there last weekend, including one for an extended stay.
