Clarke College and Loras College announced Friday they will end merger negotiations. The decision comes amid ongoing discussions and a shift in strategic direction for both institutions.

Investigators say 900000 was invested via Navarino Trading Inc with a Houston broker, funds reportedly managed by an international financier through a Panamanian company. Hadley faces up to 20 years and 30000 dollars in fines if convicted, plus up to 15 more years and 250000 fines on passport and ID charges. He worked at John Deere Credit Union in Waterloo four years ago.
President Reagan ordered the Navy to protect neutral merchant ships under attack in the Persian Gulf and to seek help as clashes with Iran continue. Defense Secretary Frank Carlucci said the move extends humanitarian aid while denying a full police role, noting two missing Marine officers were killed in action.
