Five Cedar Rapids children need help through Camp Good Health
Nurses describe five youngsters in Cedar Rapids needing care and nutrition this summer. Elsie and Janice, 12 and 10, face pneumonia recovery in crowded housing while their mother works. John, 7, awaits improved health and companionship while stationed father is in Italy. Howard, 10, suffers from stomach ulcers, measles, an operation, and recent appendicitis. Helen, 9, frail and nervous after bereavement, shares a crowded upstairs home with working siblings. The drive seeks Camp Good Health funding to provide rest, supervised play, meals, naps, and routine. The campaign, run by the Public Health Nursing association, aims for a $3,695 seven-week budget June 12–July 27, supported by Cedar Rapids Gazette readers.
