Benton County seeks grant to restore historic courthouse clock

Benton County residents pursue a state grant to fund two thirds of the cost to repair the Benton County Court House clock atop Vinton Iowa. The commission aims to re render the clock to its original pristine condition and have it running by year end or next summer.

Two More Arrests Tied to VEISHEA Riots at ISU

Iowa State University faces a widening arrest list after Conor Welch age 18 and Hunter Alexander age 20 were charged with fifth degree theft and second degree criminal mischief. Nine others have been ticketed or charged in the April riot that injured a student and led to VEISHEA cancellation. A 20 member task force will meet weekly through June to decide whether to reshape or end VEISHEA.
