Judge rules white son of black family faced discrimination
Administrative law judge William G. Blum found Waterloo Industries targeted Andrew Roby, an electrician adopted by a Black family, after learning his heritage. Roby was fired in July 1994 for stealing a 90 cent roll of paper towels, and the judge awarded him 8000 for emotional distress while upholding the firing grounds. The Waterloo Human Rights Commission may modify or appeal the ruling.
