Hubbard
Hubbard hailed for unmatched public health animal work dedication
Pat Hubbard, longtime Cedar Valley Humane Society director, is praised by Tom Hart of the Public Health Department for transforming animal control and public health efforts. Her achievements include rabies vaccination programs, spay neutering collaborations, pet therapy starting in 1974, and training across seven states. She helped pass Iowa animal welfare law and led a notable shelter on Mount Vernon Road SE. A cherished memory involves a stroke patient whose responsiveness returned after a therapy dog visit. Hubbard regrets not finding more homes for euthanized animals and hopes the society grows with better wages and reduced breeding.
