Hubbard pleads guilty in mom death in Iowa

Hubbard 33 of Hiawatha pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in Linn County District Court for the Dec 2 2016 death of his mother Deborah Roman 56 at her mobile home. He received 10 years in prison and 150000 restitution to Roman's estate. An autopsy found death from choking on peeled apples.

Last Flats house moved to new Sixth Street site

The final house from The Flats in Cedar Rapids was moved Friday by Aywsworth House Movers from 909 16th Ave SE to 1011 Sixth St SE near a refurbished foundation. Built in 1890 by Bohemian settlers, the 16 by 28 foot structure will become a short term rental on Jason Rogers property with Cargill covering some costs totaling about 15000 dollars. The move required no power line relocation and only a brief railroad crossing delay.
