Severe thunderstorms swept Missouri and eastern Kansas. Tennis ball to golf ball hail reported near Emporia and Melvern with winds to 76 mph. A tornado touched down near Osage Beach and roofs blown off near Versailles. Weather spread from Illinois to the Great Lakes with heavy showers in California and Oregon.
