Survey results on seven to be determined

Wilson to Inspect State Institutions in Des Moines

Gov. George A. Wilson plans to visit all state board of control institutions as the new board prepares to take over May 1. He may appoint a business manager for each of the fifteen institutions and notes a general farm superintendent provision was removed from the consolidation bill. Roy Pullen, a Spencer dirt farmer, is appointed for a six year term ending June 30, 1945, to succeed Harry C. White.

Griswold bills toll bridge linking Cassville and Guttenberg

A bill introduced by Representative Griswold of Wisconsin proposes authorizing Cassville to build a toll bridge across the Mississippi River to connect with Guttenberg Iowa.

Iowa WPA Slashes May Work Force by 2100

George J. Keller, Iowa WPA administrator, said 2100 workers will be removed from projects between May 1 and 8 due to a reduction in Iowa's works relief quota. May funds allow 26000 workers instead of 28100 assigned in April.

Daylight time petitions reach Iowa City leaders this spring

Iowa City petitions urge a daylight saving time shift from April 30 to September 24. Mayor Willenbrock and council members receive the proposals, with University of Iowa backing pending council approval on May 5. President Gilmore says UI cooperation possible if adopted.

Toledo Missionary Meeting Draws Delegates

About 150 delegates attended the Iowa branch meeting of the Woman's Missionary Association of the United Brethren church in Toledo. Cedar Rapids Man Convicted At Vinton

Mack A. Augustine 53 of Cedar Rapids convicted by a nine to three jury in Vinton for illegal possession of game birds after a Cantwell farm pheasant trip. He received 15 days to file a motion for a new trial. The case originated as an appeal from J A Ruhl justice court.

Herbrecht Chosen To Succeed Hutton

O G Herbrecht of Des Moines was named by the state Sunday school board to succeed the late Walter Hutton as general secretary for Iowa. Hutton died March 29. Herbrecht has been state young people secretary.

Howard Johnsons One Man Show At Cornell This Week

Fifty five pictures by Howard Johnson on display at Armstrong hall Cornell campus open daily 2 to 5 through May 5. Works span abstractions to gouache and include a recumbent pig and a skyscraper. Johnson of Cedar Rapids currently in Des Moines for the state fair mural, counts Cedar Rapids as home. He is a graduate of Grant high 1932, largely self taught with a stint at the state university. He has shown in New York and Chicago and elsewhere. exhibitions precede May Hohlen and Mount Vernon artists at Armstrong hall.

Talle To Attend New York Ceremonies For Norwegian Couple

Rep Henry C. Talle of Decorah Iowa received royal invitation to join Crown Prince Olav and Crown Princess in New York for the Norwegian pavilion opening at the World’s Fair. He will attend the inaugural ceremonies and the Waldorf Astoria banquet. He is slated to participate when the royal couple visits northeastern Iowa on May 6 and 7.

Traer Man Weds Garwin Woman at Evangelical Parsonage

Frank J. Mysak of Traer and Gladys Wiese of Garwin were married last week at the Evangelical parsonage in Mare Shall town. The couple were attended by Ralph Le Fevre and Lorraine Wiese. Mysak, son of Joseph Mysak of near Traer, works with his father in farming and the pair plan to settle on a farm.
