School Bus Stop Rules From Iowa Code
Motorists may not pass a school bus from the rear when amber or red lights are on and must stop at least 15 feet while the stop arm is extended. Opposing traffic with amber lights may slow to 20 mph and be prepared to stop. Lights must flash 150 feet from the stop point on roads under 45 mph and 300 feet on faster roads. Two lanes each way allow no stop for opposite-direction traffic. Source Iowa Code.
