Davenport Builds Sandbag Wall as Mississippi River Rises
City inspectors oversee a 700 foot clay and sandbag wall with 500 feet of sandbag berm along the riverfront to hold back rising floodwaters. About 75 000 sandbags protect downtown as the river climbs a foot daily and is expected to recede slowly in days ahead.
