Senate and house conferees accept most of the new tax bill with the 10 percent income levy amendment to be voted separately. A two cent lower cocoanut tax for Philippine product vs imports is set, and Philippine oil taxed at three cents per pound. Revenue is projected at 417 million for a full year.

President Roosevelt said a $1.5 billion naval program bill to be sent to Congress will fund initial construction in the treaty navy. The plan calls for $40 million in the first year for six submarines, twelve destroyers, and two destroyer tenders, with actual spending near $37 million.
NEBRASKA CITY Neb. AP Joan Rutherford of Falls City Missouri Pacific railroad engineer was fined 75 dollars and costs in police court for failing to stop a freight train at a crossing. The incident followed a new city ordinance requiring trains to stop at the federal highway crossing unless a flagman is on duty. the railroad has since employed a flagman.
Sherman Texas police identified one of two bandits as Raymond Hamilton a 20 year old Dallas man freed from prison weeks earlier by Clyde Barrow He was arrested after robbing the First National bank at Lewisville of 500 dollars and the money was recovered A red wheeled car with a woman in back and two men in front was seen leaving suggesting Bonnie Parker and Barrow may have been involved
Washington AP reports the Senate overrode Senator Norris's Nebraskan protest to complete action on the home loan bill, rejecting his amendment to bar politics from the Home Owners' Loan Corporation.
Washington AP report says a wage dispute between railroad managers and their employees may end soon as union chiefs extend the mediation deadline under the Railway Labor Act. The second conference ended with A F Whitney announcing a 24 hour extension to midnight Thursday.
At the request of the state board of education, Dean Carl E. Seashore will remain head of the University of Iowa graduate college and psychology department for another year. He wished retirement to devote time to studies but is staying on at age 68 after the board urged him to continue.
In Lima Ohio attorneys filed a request for a new trial for gangster Harry Pierpont sentenced to die for killing two sheriffs during the Dillinger jail escape.
