A touring Polish poster exhibit titled Poland A Fishing Paradise by Wiktor Gorka opens at Cedar Rapids Art Center. The display runs through May 17 in the second floor gallery as part of a Smithsonian supported survey of Polish posters from 1899 to 1978.
Outdoor Roundup reports Lnenicka's 18 inch eel catch from the Five-in-One dam and his plan to keep it in an aquarium. It also notes upcoming state land and water retriever trials in Amanas June 27 28 with up to 70 dogs, a May 12 Indian Bluffs Primitive Area public meeting, and Iowa Conservation Commission actions on the area. Additionally it covers winners Maynard Reese and Tom Walker in the 1982 trout and waterfowl stamp contests, plus Lyle Brown Jr.'s new Iowa brook trout record from Canoe Creek in Winnebago County on March 18.
Indian Creek Nature Center and Linn County Conservation Board offer four optional hikes totaling about 21 miles. Participation is free, with a $3 member or $4 non member fee for completing all four.
