Iowa City murder conviction based on sound evidence says former prosecutor

Garry Woodward, former assistant attorney general who prosecuted James Hall for the 1973 strangling of Sarah Ann Ottens, told The Gazette that Hall’s 1974 conviction rested on solid evidence. He recalled informing the U S Supreme Court in the 1970s that Hall could react violently toward women if aroused by remarks. He said he cannot claim to have known the exact outcome.
