Price fixing policy leaves farmers holding the bag
Rep. Clarence Cannon of Missouri attacked the price administration for pegging hogs at $9 a hundred, butter at 31 cents, and poultry at 15 cents while labor wages rise and parity prices for farm products fail. He warned the move undermines farm recovery and production control, urging congressional action to restore parity and stabilize agricultural loans.

100 Indian Mounds In Proposed Park
A proposed national monument for Iowa centers on the Yellow River Mound area in Clayton and Allamakee counties. Governor Wilson signed the bill allowing state lands to be donated to the federal government for preservation. The U.S. Parks Service backs creating a preserve once lands are deeded to the government. About 1,000 acres are involved, with several hundred already state owned and remaining tracts to be acquired by purchase or condemnation if needed. The site contains around 100 mounds, including bird and animal effigies, with notable features such as the great bear mound and a large linear mound straddling the county line, plus an Indian village site and historic trails along the Yellow river.
