Prenatal care program saves money and lives in Norfolk
In Norfolk the Resource Mothers program at Eastern Virginia Medical School trains former new mothers to mentor teens and young women. Prentatal coaching reduces hospital stays and costs, with lower rates of low birth weight. The program, launched by Dr. Edward Karotkin, has served over 500 clients since 1997 and aims to expand with more funding.
