Gertrude Sawyers 101 of Cedar Rapids died Sunday April 19 2015 at Mercy Hallmar Care Center. Funeral service 2:30 Wednesday April 22 at Murdoch Linwood Funeral Home Cedar Rapids. Cremation followed with private burial at Hazelwood Cemetery Grinnell. She was born September 26 1913 in Pella to Peter and Wilhelmina Van Niewaal. She married Thomas Franks Sawyers June 24 1939 in Pella. She lived in Pella Grinnell and Cedar Rapids. Survived by two children six grandchildren eight great grandchildren and six siblings. In lieu of flowers memorials directed to First Church or Mercy Medical Foundation Hallmar Care Center.

Stephen Justin Cook of Palo died April 17 2015 from injuries in a car crash at age 35. Visitation is 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bahnenkamp Murdoch Funeral Home in Manchester. A funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Ryan with burial at Calvary Cemetery. He is survived by wife Lisa Wulfekuhle and children Lucky 16 Piper 3, parents Donald and Karen, siblings Joelle and Christopher, many relatives and colleagues, and was an organ donor and longtime firefighter and volunteer. A memorial fund supports Lucky and Piper.
