Simulcasting limits face shift in Iowa gambling law
Gov. Branstad signs a bill lifting the 10 race simulcast cap at four pari mutuel tracks and requiring Racing and Gaming Commission approval. Sen. Kinley says Prairie Meadows near Des Moines could not survive without the change. The measure also tightens open meetings for public-fund tracks and legalizes liquor sales at race venues. Other provisions address health center licensing and school open enrollment timing.
