Senate misses confirmation deadline for Branstad appointees
Des Moines Gazette reports that more than a dozen Gov. Branstad appointees remain in limbo as the Senate failed to meet the April 15 confirmation deadline. Names include Terry Rich of the Iowa Lottery Authority, Chuck Gipp of the DNR, and Labor Commissioner Michael Mauro, with 10 other appointees awaiting action. Senate leaders discuss deferring the deadline while critics call the lapse a sign of stalled approvals. If confirmed, appointees would take effect May 1. without action, they are deemed denied.
