Nature center seeks funds to buy 28 acre woodland

Indian Creek Nature Center in Cedar Rapids aims to purchase 28 acres of woods along the Cedar River for preservation. The $482,000 package includes a $100,000 endowment to fund insurance and caretaking. Over $50,000 has been raised, with plans for a simple nature trail and continued land protection.

Johnson County approves design for new emergency center

A Johnson County committee approved an 18.3 million design for an 17,000 square foot emergency communications center on 3.8 acres near the Highway 218 and Melrose Avenue intersection. Neumann Monson Architects lead the project with a fall 2009 operation target and a seven member regional board guiding the center.
