French Alliance stamp to honor Revolutionary War bicentennial
The U S Postal Service will issue a 13 cent commemorative stamp in York Pennsylvania on May 4 to mark the alliance with France ratified by the Second Continental Congress. The design shows King Louis XVI and Benjamin Franklin with a French document. A first day cancellation program and quotes from stamp hobbyist Lawrence Melocke illustrate ongoing collector interest.
