Mrs. Boyd Beatty of Shellsburg was installed as president of the Cedar Rhapsody chapter of Sweet Adelines Inc at a dinner meeting. Other officers installed include Charlotte McCaw as vice president Nadine Hartkemeyer as corresponding secretary Mrs William Elliott as recording secretary and Mrs Carroll Ritchie as treasurer. Ritchie was cited as Sweet Adeline Leading Lady of the Year.
The Midwest regional Birthright meeting will be held Saturday at the Highlander Inn in Iowa City. Dr. Eugene Diamond of Palos Park Illinois will speak at 1 p.m. after a noon luncheon. Registration starts at 9 a.m. with workshops on the four Rs. The $5 fee covers the luncheon.
Abbott Laboratories announces Abbokinase is now available at 45 U S hospitals for dissolving lung clots. The IV 12 hour treatment targets acute pulmonary embolism and aims to be more effective than anticoagulants without surgery. FDA approved it for dissolving massive clots, according to Milton Henrichs.
