Senate votes to boost mental health funding in Iowa
In Des Moines a bipartisan 33-17 vote funnels nearly 43 million from a 900 million state surplus into mental health services. The plan draws criticism over one time funding and shifting to regional networks by 2015, while lawmakers stress modernization and caution on budget practices. The Linn County board closed its supported living program, transferring services to non profits to cut costs, with a projected 500000 state funding shortfall.
