Hog-cutter veteran waits patiently for family
Alfredo Ayala works 10 years at the IBP hog plant in Columbus Junction earning 10.80 an hour plus overtime. He is part of a largely Hispanic line of 70, waits for his wife in Mexico after citizenship hopeful years, and plans to push hours to save for a future reunion while supporting kin back home. He also serves at St. Joseph the Worker Church and teaches baptism classes monthly, as pastor Bernie Weir notes the long, costly path to family reunion.
