Captive Yank rescued in Beirut after 75 days

American University of Beirut professor Frank Regier and French engineer Christian Joubert were freed in West Beirut after 75 days in captivity. The release occurred with U S Ambassador Reginald Bartholomew present at Nabih Berri’s home. They were unharmed and wore striped pajamas from confinement.

Two U.S. envoys killed in Namibia bombing near Oshakati

Two American diplomats monitoring the South African troop withdrawal in southern Angola died in a bomb blast at a fuel station near Oshakati in northern Namibia.
