Two University of Iowa students die in cycle truck crash

Two University of Iowa students, Robert Bergstrom 22 Onawa and John Wimmer 23 West Point Neb, were killed when Bergstroms motorcycle collided with a pickup driven by Richard Greenhaw 26 Marion on highway 218 near North Liberty. Carter to veto tax cut while pushing anti inflation plan

President Carter announced a drive to cut inflation to about 4 percent by 1979 and said he would veto a permanent income tax cut proposed by Republicans as a substitute for his tax rebate. Gas and Electric Refunds Set for Iowa Customers

The Iowa Commerce Commission orders refunds totaling about 5.8 million dollars to 200 000 Iowa customers of Iowa Illinois Gas and Electric Co. in July. Average refunds run about 10.60 for Cedar Rapids Marion residential gas users and 23 for Iowa City where both gas and electric service are from Iowa Illinois. Electric service in Cedar Rapids is supplied by Iowa Electric Light and Power Co and not affected. Small town and rural refunds will be smaller due to lower previous increases. The action follows an Aug 1 1974 rate rise and refunds cover about 18 percent of the higher amounts collected under bond plus interest. The commission had ruled June 21 1976 that part of the proposed increase must be refunded.
