Edward R Simon, 17, of 906 D Ave NW, found guilty of assault and battery in a case where Dennis Hegland was held through a car window during a February 28 incident. Bever Park officials report two of seven escaped monkeys captured after they were lured by banana bait at 353 Park Terrace SE. Five Rhesus monkeys remain in trees west of Bever Park as the hunt continues with the city urging residents not to feed them. The monkeys cost about 20 dollars each originally and about 40 dollars per head now, leaving roughly 200 dollars of park property still in trees.

The mother of a four year old pled innocent in Linn County District Court to charges she embezzled more than 700 dollars from W T Grant at Town and Country shopping center. Detective Navratil says she used fictitious freight bills to obtain payments and pocketed the funds over a year.
A suspended 10 year reforma tory sentence was imposed for Robert E. Perew who pled guilty to breaking into the Camera Center. He must make restitution for watches and damages and is released on parole. James M. Howe received a suspended 6 month term after pleading guilty to grand larceny for taking $37 from a car serviced at an auto garage where he worked.
Michael J. Hennessey 41 of 1819 Second Ave SE and Paul L. Ballard 28 of Toddville pled guilty to drunk driving in Linn district court. Hennessey withdrew an earlier not guilty plea and was fined 300 by Judge Charles Penning roth after an arrest on December 18.
