Barlund Faces Record Fine and Suspension in Illinois Fight

The Illinois Athletic Commission imposes the heaviest boxing fine in state history on Gunnar Barlund and manager Paul Damski after Barlund failed to continue in the April 4 bout against Billy Conn. Barlund’s purse of 3899.50 is impounded minus 944 advanced, leaving a 2955.50 fine for the state treasury.
