Cedar Rapids RoughRiders coach Mark Carlson is named USHL coach of the year after guiding the team to a share of the regular season title and Anderson Cup with a 42-13-5 record. Ted, Shane Lovdahl, and Dan Tormey make second-team. Jeff Lerg of the Omaha Lancers is named league player of the year.
Point guard Michael Williams of Hutchinson Community College signed a national letter of intent with Northern Iowa. Panthers coach Greg McDermott announced the decision on Wednesday. The Topeka native is 5 foot 10 and 190 pounds and will have two seasons of eligibility at UNI. Williams averaged 10 points and 2.5 assists for Hutchinson last season.
