Probation for Newton teen in classmate death

U of I loses Freedman to Dartmouth

University of Iowa President James O. Freedman was named next president of Dartmouth College in Hanover New Hampshire effective July 19. The move comes as two other Iowa vice presidents depart and a national search begins for a replacement. Maquoketa teen charged with first degree murder

A 16 year old Maquoketa boy faces first degree murder charges in the stabbing death of his 37 year old stepmother Marsha Corder. He is held at the Scott County Juvenile Facility on a 250000 bond after being arrested at a Maquoketa foster home. Witnesses say Marsha Corder returned home shortly before the house fire that killed her.
