Chinese conspirators challenge evidence in Iowa trade secret case
Mo Hailong and sister Mo Yun seek suppression of Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act material in a case accusing seven Chinese nationals of stealing seed trade secrets from Dupont Pioneer Monsanto and LG Seeds and moving them to China. Prosecutors say discovery is lengthy and most material is classified. The indictment traces the scheme from 2011 to 2012 involving seed transfers and planting actions tied to Beijing DBN Group Kings Nower Seed and related entities.

Dowling walkout spurs push for gay straight alliance
About 150 students alumni and community members joined a Wednesday walkout at Dowling Catholic High School to demand the formation of a gay straight alliance after the school did not hire a substitute teacher full time upon learning he was gay. Grace Mumm organized the protest and Liam Jameson started a Change.org petition seeking a non religious student support group. Some students supported the protest while others booed Jameson and used derogatory terms. Dowling administrators said they will discuss the request as part of ongoing conversations about supporting all students.
