Experts assign fall theory in Kayla Blahnik death trial
Three expert witnesses including a biomedical engineer a pediatric neurologist and a pediatric forensic pathologist testified that Kayla Blahnik's fatal injuries align with a stair fall rather than shaken baby syndrome. Charles Goddard of Fairfax faces first degree murder charges in Linn County for Kayla's February 2003 death. The defense argues the brain stem injury matches an accidental fall and links back to the home on Owen Street NW where Kayla and her mother Courtney Goddard lived.
