A Linn County jury returned a verdict for Cedar Rapids and four policemen in the 50 000 suit filed by the Swisher man’s estate over his death in the city jail on December 7 1972. The jury deliberated about four hours.
The notice notes that personal crisis reports have surged to become the second leading cause of death for ages 15 to 24. It cites page 11B as the source for the data and frames it as a rising public health concern affecting youth nationwide.
